Coaching & Club Leadership Model
A structured, coach-led extra-curricular programme turning students’ passion for gaming into purposeful leadership development. Delivered live and professionally supervised through the School of Esports model — combining structured coaching, defined competition and reflective review — with progression routes aligned to the Leadership Skills Foundation framework.
Students engage in weekly live sessions within structured team environments, taking defined roles, competing in professionally shoutcasted tournaments and reviewing performance through guided reflection. Clubs operate as focused development spaces — building confidence, teamwork, accountability and transferable skills that strengthen behaviour, engagement and performance beyond the club and into wider school life.

S B, Head of Computing, for Coaching Leadership Club students
"I used to get really annoyed when I lost and didn’t want to play anymore. Now I just take a minute and try again. I stay calmer and think about what I can do better, to keep going and don’t let my team down. And Myself. I came a long way and it makes me feel proud.”

This is education-first coaching. Esports is the context, not the outcome.
Skills such as communication, leadership, emotional regulation and strategic thinking are explicitly taught, practised and reviewed each session.
Which age groups does Coaching support?
Coaching supports KS3, KS4 and Post-16, with age-appropriate expectations, progression goals and reflection tasks tailored to each cohort.
Can Coaching work in AP or SEMH settings?
Yes. The structured session format supports routine, clear expectations and wellbeing-aware participation.
Many settings use coaching to improve focus, emotional regulation and team behaviours before progressing into qualification pathways.
How is impact evidenced in Coaching?
Impact is tracked through:
- Structured reflection logs
- Skills progression rubrics
- Behaviour and engagement indicators
- Leadership role tracking
